Planning a trip to Florida? If yes, do not forget to visit the Orlando area and its theme parks and attractions, and if you have any thing over time, then you can also visit the southern tip of Florida and explore the Everglades National Park.
When we all aware environment, the Everglades National Park is an ideal place to immerse your self in the wonders of Mother Nature. The park covers more 1.5 million acres. Founded in 1947 and was the first large park created with the "biological diversity" or the protection of species in mind. Previously, most parks were created to preserve tourist sites.
The Everglades has a variety of habitats, including saw grass, freshwater marshes, mangrove forests and coastal areas. It houses over 400 species of birds and many species mammals, amphibians, reptiles, birds and plants. Speaking of plants, you'll be able to see 24 species of orchids in this park.
So what to do in this park? Well, you could spend a morning on the ground and take pictures of exotic birds, or take a walk in the evening or on road with a guard, and "night", might enjoy the light of a fire
If you are an outdoors type, then this the place for you. The park offers a variety of camping, canoeing, hiking and fishing options, and guided tours. Tours are two kinds: Ranger led tours and trips offered by companies that have agreed to grant the license for the park. The visits are about living beings and the natural environment, and that gives fundamental knowledge of this important ecosystem.
For all history buffs, I recommend a tour of the Nike missile base. During the height of the Cold War, this database was created to provide surface-air missiles to protect against a possible Soviet attack. The base has remained virtually the same as that of 1979 when it ended the official use of the site. Tours in this area are already full for 2009, so if you want to see, make sure you make reservations.
The park is located at the southern tip of Florida and is accessible since most of Florida. It is open 365 days a year and the main park entrance in Homestead, Florida, is open 24 hours a day. The other entries are Everglades City, Flamingo and Shark Valley.
The Everglades National Park Service website (nps.gov / ever) offer good advice on a visit. One thing that is important to account is your advice on pets.
